Some children sit at the very edge of the education system — Adivasi (tribal) and Dalit children in remote hamlets, the last to be reached and the first to be forgotten. KADL exists for them: putting books, hands-on science and the children's own stories at the centre of learning, with dignity and joy.
KADL grew out of Katha's conviction that equity is not charity — it is justice. Working through community libraries in Tamil Nadu, KADL brings StoryPedagogy® to children whose first language, culture and knowledge are too often missing from the classroom. Here, a child's own story is the starting point, not an afterthought.

Bright, hands-on learning spaces set up in and around Adivasi and Dalit communities. Children explore STEM with simple kits, read in their own languages, make art and tell stories — discovering that learning belongs to them too. Each lab doubles as a community library and a gathering place.
For the hamlets too far from any centre, the lab comes to them. The Mobile Magic Lab is a learning space on wheels — carrying books, science kits and storytelling to the doorstep of children who would otherwise be missed entirely. The van turns a dusty afternoon into a day of wonder.
Through oral-history work, KADL helps children gather the stories, songs and knowledge of their elders — honouring mother tongues and traditions that rarely make it into a textbook. The children become collectors and authors of their community's memory: representation, dignity and pride, written in their own words.
